Connections planning´s rep has been put on the spot, first it was a boom and now some question its existence and survival. I am for taking things with a pinch of salt but I also believe in balance, so I wanted to share these examples that have caught my eye during my new commuting routine in Madrid.
In my opinion both are a great case in point of connections planning, seamlessly fitting products and services in people´s lifestyle, parting from the following data: Madrid is the city with most public transportation commmuters in the country (50% vs a 21% nation average).

mediatic enigmatic
Why do channels Antena 3, Neox and Nova, which have totally different content and audience, share media scheduling and buys? Si alguien sabe el porqué, por favor explicádmelo porque no tiene ningún sentido en mi cabeza...
Let me explain, the three channels seem to be synchronized, so not only they get commercial interruptions at the same time they also get THE SAME ADS. So a financial services spot is running simultaneously in three channels where people are watching:

"check out this news alert"
A few weeks ago I received this news alert in my e-mail.
The video that appeared to be a newscast from a Miami News Station claimed that a serial killer had strike again and had left a message written in BLOOD for it's next victim, me! This prank, from the TV series "Dexter", also allowed a personalized message that would appear written in sharpie in a piece of "evidence". Of course, this freaked me out... And of course I had to send it to a couple friends. Isn't new media unexpected and hilarious??

my fling with media
Jane Groft and Ellen Kiyomizu, from Scorch LLC (sub. of Carat Fusion) met me last week to set up my one on one directed studies for this semester. I must point out how this media experts are also fantasticly kind women.
We, our generation, the whole industry, are witnessing the rise of media as a creative discipline, capable of standing on its own. Technological changes and the ability to precise targeting are being key.
David Verklin, CEO Carat Americas talks about this rise and the importance of narrocasting in Cannes.
I am ready to immerse myself in this enigmatic world, were media is just as diverse, singular and exciting as every individual.
